Position Details

Position Duties and Responsibilities

Performs duties necessary to train and supervise college students while providing on-site instruction; assists students to achieve educational objectives referred by the academic departments; performs duties necessary to teach and observe infants through twelve year old children and maintain constant communication with the parents.

College Students:
Supervises, trains and orients college students; offers lab and practicum experiences for students; serves as role model; observes and evaluates students’ lesson plans and activities; grades students by means of Vocational Instruction Material (VIM).

Plans in-services and provides resources.

Children and Parents:
Plans and implements developmentally appropriate curriculum for young children for assigned program.

Conducts semi-annual parent/teacher conferences.

Observes children for developmental, behavioral and/or health problems and communicates observations to the director and parents.

Evaluates children’s progress; prepares, organizes, files and records information.

Prepares and sends newsletters to parents and provides relative articles and information.

Conducts home visits and parent meetings.

Orients and supervises employees, work study students, volunteers and high school students.

Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in area of specialization and 1 year relevant, full-time experience (Equivalent=minimum of 90 credit hours and 3 years relevant, full-time experience) or Associate degree in child care plus 3 years experience in technical area.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Early Care and Education, Child and Family Development or the equivalent and a year of full-time experience in an infant toddler classroom.
